Pakistan-Sponsored Resolution Condemning Attacks On Religious Sites Adopted By UN
A Pakistan-sponsored resolution seeking protection of religious sites was adopted by the United Nations on Thursday.

Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and other OIC countries co-sponsored the resolution, which was adopted by consensus.

The resolution disapproves of all threats of violence, destruction and damage to religious sites that have taken place worldwide, especially in India. It also condemns any attempt to obliterate or forcibly convert any religious sites.

The resolution raises concerns about the growth of racial and religious bigotry and the negative stereotyping of religions, and opposes any promotion of prejudice, animosity or violence that encourages national, racial or religious hatred.
