PMLN leader Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said that his decision as prime minister to appoint Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal as the NAB chairman was a mistake. He went on to apologise to the nation for appointing Iqbal.
He expressed these views while speaking to Hamid Mir on his show.
The host asked him who made the appointment and he replied that he along with Khurshid Shah had appointed him the chairman after looking at his credentials as the judge of Supreme Court. He added that he appointed Iqbal thinking that because Justice Javed Iqbal was a former Supreme Court judge, he wouldn’t have a questionable character.
Khaqan added that they had made a mistake by appointing him. Since his appointment opposition parities have accused NAB of political victimisation.
