A soldier from the Frontier Corps (FC) has been sentenced to death by a local court in Balochistan for murder of a Baloch student last year.
On August 13, 2020, Hayat Baloch was shot dead by FC Sepoy Shadiullah. His killing came in the wake of a blast in the area of which he was falsely held responsible.
After convicting him under Section 302 of the Pakistan Penal Code, the court sentenced the accused to death. During the identification parade, the parents of the slain student appeared in court, naming the accused.
Hayat was a student of BS Physiology at Karachi University and was shaking hands with his parents when the incident occurred in a palm grove in the Absar region of Turbat in the Kech district of Balochistan.
