Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resources Development Zulfi Bukhari has denied reports that he met representatives of the government of Israel in Tel Aviv.
The SAPM took to Twitter to rebuff the rumour that he had visited Israel last month after being cleared for the visit by US.
According to reports, Israeli officials had welcomed an advisor to PM Imran Khan at Tel Aviv Airport on 30 November, and he had stayed there for a couple of days. This advisor is a also a British citizen and had used his British passport to book a flight to Israel. Since Zulfi Bukhari holds British passport, it was being alleged that he might have visited Israel.
Bukhari said, “If it is directed against me, I would like to clarify that I was in Rawalpindi with the Deputy Commissioner on the day, and pictures of the event are also available.”
He further claimed that these rumours were spread by 'Indian and Israeli sponsored media' and have been taken out of proportion by the opposition to stir up a controversy. The SAPM added that he pitied the “opposition for stooping this low,” and reiterated that Pakistan has made its position on the issue of building ties with Israel clear.
