Pakistani Doctor Creates Smartphone App To Instantly Conduct Covid Test
Dr Naqeeb Khalid, a Pakistani doctor based in Toronto, Canada has created an app for smartphones that can instantly conduct a coronavirus test.
He led the development of smartphone-based diagnostic test for Covid-19 as Director of Medical Device Programme at the Montreal-based Two-Photon Research Inc. This app is not only  a quick, hassle-free, accessible and affordable way of conducting the Covid-19 tests but it would also help in the future by identifying other viruses such as dengue etc.

Pakistan High Commissioner to Canada Raza Bashir Tarar congratulated Dr Naqeeb Khalid for his extraordinary achievement. In a video conference with the doctor, the High Commissioner lauded Dr Naqeeb's invention.

Talking about the app and its usage, Dr Naqeeb said: "Instant, accurate and low-cost testing that does not rely on laboratory testing is essential in containing the pandemic and together with vaccines, we can control the Covid-19 outbreak and return our lives and economies to normal."

However, the app is not yet being put to use at the mass level. It is yet to pass several trial levels.
