Qaumi Lashkar, in the presence of the local administration and police in South Waziristan’s Azam Warsak area, torched two houses and later demolished them under the draconian Collective Responsibility Act which was abolished after the 25th constitutional amendment.
Details reveal a 4000 member’s lashkar, backed in presence of local administration and police in Azam Warsak area of South Waziristan torched two houses of local residents for purchasing land in Tank area in violation of Jirga orders.
During the operation, houses of 2 local residents Haji Muhammad Saloorkhel and Akhun Badshah Sarkikhel were first set on fire and later demolished them in presence of large number of police and local administration, journalist Gohar Mehsud from South Waziristan told Naya Daur.
He added that five residents of the area purchased land in the Tank area on which a strong influential tribe raised objections and barred them from constructing houses later demolished their houses. Mehsud mentioned that one tribe who demolished the houses is powerful and influential and the other one is weak that’s why the police and local administration failed to stop them from torching houses.
Akhon Badshah whose house was demolished by Laskhar in the area told in a video message available with Naya Daur that five people including him and Zalmay, Lashta Khan, Mohammad khan, Janat Mir Akhon Badshah bought land in Molraghzai area of Tank and started construction but the local tribe resisted and barred them from construction and threatened to demolish the houses.
He added that they filed complaint with District Commissioner (DC) South Waziristan, SHO Azam Warsak and FC and informed them that the local tribe was coming to demolish their houses but no one listened and on day of operation around 50 personal of police were present in the area but they failed to safeguard the affected.
He further told that his house worth 7 million and another one were first torched and later demolished by the Lashkar.
It should be mentioned here that the Frontier Crimes Regulation (FCR) law was abolished in the area after 25th constitutional amendment with merger of FATA with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
DC and DPO South Waziristan did not immediately respond to Naya Daur’s request for comment.
