Journalists Body Condemns Manhandling of Reporters By Punjab Police

Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) have strongly condemned manhandling of two journalist of Voicepk.net who went to model town police station for the confirmation of arrest of DJ Butt.

In a joint statement by PFUJ President Shahzada Zulfiqar and Secretary General Nasir Zaidi condemned the uncalled for behaviour of Police officials of Model Town Police station who not only intimidated and manhandled the two journalists of Voicepk.net but also forced to delete valuable footage and material from the devices of journalist which is an interference in the working of journalists freely and with the independence.
They called upon the Punjab government for showing some respect for the journalists community and take stern action against police official who manhandled the journalists of voicepk.net who were on assignment on filing story of DJ Butt who allegedly arrested on flimsy grounds.
This morning two @voicepkdotnet reporters went to investigate why #DJButt was picked up by the #ModelTown police. However they were physically attacked, manhandled, and threatened by the police there, incl the SHO who said it was 'work'.
