COVID-Positive Accused Sends Courtroom Into Panicked Exit
A man caused panic in an anti-terrorism court yesterday after declaring that he was positive for COVID-19. Facing allegations of having extorted money from a trader, it later turned out that the accused had been out on bail and had recently tested positive for the viral disease.

His dramatic disclosure caused staff and legal representatives to exit the courtroom in a panic. The accused was asked to leave the room and a spraying process was initiated.

In an earlier incident last month, a COVID-positive lawyer had appeared before the Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Gulzar Ahmed. Last month, in November, a local court had written to Sindh IGP Mushtaq Mahar, expressing disapproval at police presenting COVID-positive suspects before judicial authorities.
