Two men, Bait Ullah and Gul Siddique, were convicted by a sessions court for the killing of Major Mohammad Laraib of the Special Services Group (SSG) in November 2019.
The judge sentenced Baitullah to death and Gul Siddique was sentenced to life imprisonment. A fine of Rs500,000 was also imposed on both accused.
At the time of his murder last year, the slain army officer was posted in Attock. He was visiting Islamabad in an official capacity when he was murdered in G-9 area of the capital. He had come to meet a friend in the area where he was attacked by the killers.
Two suspected murderers were arrested by the police a month after the incident.
The court order stated that an empty shell of a 30-bore pistol was recovered by the police from the crime scene.
