‘Symbol Of Frightens’: Twitterati Poke Fun At Poorly-Written Detention Order Against Activist Ammar Jan

- 88Shares
Deputy Commissioner Lahore on Friday issued detention order against activist Ammar Ali Jan after his participation in the Students Solidarity March in Lahore. The police attempted to arrest him on his way back from the march but his friends put up a resistance and foiled the attempt.
The poorly-written and grammatically incomprehensible order termed the activist a threat to public safety. It also referred to Ammar Ali Jan as a ‘symbol of frightens’.
Social media condemned the order and the police’s attempt to arrest the activist, but the language of the order appeared to have provided some comic relief.
Twitterati used the term ‘symbol of frightens’ in their tweets to poke fun at the detention order which they termed absurd.
Trying to decide what the most offensive part of this order is, #symboloffrightens, spelling ‘huqooq’ as ‘hakook’ (that’s kooky!), or repeating ‘prejudicial to public safety & maintenance of public order’ 3 times! This dude would definitely fail my class! #StudentSolidarityMarch pic.twitter.com/JdnHNDrpgD

Shame on @DCLahore for issuing a detention order against @ammaralijan using colonial-era draconian law. DC sahib, apki politics, professional integrity aur grammar bohat terrible hai. This is what you need to focus on. pic.twitter.com/B1JsVhLHpY— Ali Usman Qasmi (@AU_Qasmi) November 28, 2020
Need to trend the hashtag #SymbolOfFrightens for @DCLahore https://t.co/5qfnGDiy0i

All that the ‘symbol of frightens’ wants is a better education system for our young people and a better world for us all. Here’s what he wrote for our pages today https://t.co/JiRYd5Ytbv

Meanwhile, in a tweet, Ammar Ali Jan offered his services to the DC Lahore for drafting better detention orders.
tactics nor will we stop our campaign for classless education system. We are proud to support the youth in their struggle for justice.
I also offer my services to the DC Lahore for drafting better notifications. Such badly drafted documents reflect poorly on the entire nation.
