Punjab Govt Kept Nearly 300 Covid Deaths Hidden, Reveals Audit Report
An audit report has revealed that about 300 Covid deaths in Punjab were never reported, raising questions on the fairness of the data entry system of the provincial government.

Dawn reported that 145 of these unreported deaths took place in Lahore, 42 in Rawalpindi and 29 in Multan.
The report further said that the positivity rate of the virus in Multan has risen to 19.9 per cent and in Rawalpindi 17.7 per cent.

It has also been noted that these two districts of the province were at the third and fourth positions among Covid hotspots.

As of Nov 19, the Punjab government’s data claimed the total number of deaths of the Covid patients was 2,519. After the audit report released on Friday, this number has risen to 2,811.
