National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) has imposed a ban on indoor weddings due to an increase in the positivity rate of Covid-19 in major cities while allowing 1000 attendees at weddings that take place outdoors. The cities with the high positivity rate will be asked to impose the ban.
NCOC also directed public and private companies to implement 50% 'work from home' policy. The decision will be implemented from 20th of November in Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Multan, Hyderabad, Gilgit, Muzzafarabad, Mirpur, Peshawar, Quetta, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Faisalabad, Bahawalpur, and Abbottabad.
NCOC also directed for the implementation of 'Gilgit-Baltistan' model i.e to make face masks compulsory. A fine of 100 will be charged for not wearing a face mask while three face masks will also issued.
"Broader Smart Lockdowns' have also been recommended in the areas identified as hotspots.
There has been a spike in the positive cases of Covid-19 during last few weeks. In the last 24 hours, 1376 new cases were reported which is highest number of cases since 14th of July. 1487 new cases were reported on July 14 after which the cases declined to as low as less than 300.
Last week, NCOC directed all the markets, restaurants and wedding halls to be closed by 10 Pm due to the second wave of Covid-19.
