5 Educational Institutions Sealed In Islamabad After Rise In Covid Cases


Five educational institutions were sealed in Islamabad on Monday amid the reports of growing number of coronavirus cases in schools.

Four private and one government school were closed down as they reported more than two cases of coronavirus. District Health Officer confirmed that educational institutions were closed on Monday. He said that at least two cases of virus were confirmed in these institutions.


The cases were reported in a school in Sector G-8/1, in Model College for Girls, Rawal Town, schools located in sectors F-8/4 and G-7/2, and another located on Sahala Road.


More than 54 schools were already closed in Islamabad after two or more cases were reported. The educational institutions were opened in September and the government directed the institutions to strictly follow the SOPs.


Many institutions all over the country were sealed for not following SOPs. Separately, more than 1000 new cases of Coronavirus were reported on Sunday.


There has been a spike in the number of corona cases reported in last few weeks. Last week, Special Advisor to the Prime Minister on Health Dr Faisal Sultan confirmed that the second wave of Covid had begun. Subsequently, the use of face masks was made compulsory in public places. The government also directed the authorities to ensure that all markets are closed by 10 PM.
