Maryam Nawaz Says 'Na-Maloom Afraad' Not PPP Behind Safdar's Arrest
Reacting to Captain (r) Safdar's arrest, PML-N's vice-president Maryam Nawaz said that she did not hold the provincial government of PPP responsible for it. Addressing a press conference alongside JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Monday, Maryam said that they reached the hotel room later after the PDM's rally in Karachi. "We were sleeping when in the morning I heard someone knocking our door loudly," she said.
She added that when her husband opened the door, it was the police who told him that they were there to arrest him. Maryam accused the police of breaking into the room. "Safdar told them to wait and let him take his medicine since he is diabetic, but they broke the door," she said.
Maryam claimed that the policemen entered the room despite Safdar telling them not to come inside since she [Maryam] was there.

The PML-N vice-president said that PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto called her following the arrest and was 'very angry'. She denied the impression that PPP was behind the arrest, adding that the PTI thought that they would create rifts within the PDM by arresting Safdar. "We knew such things will take place," she said.

She defended the slogans chanted at the Quaid's mausoleum and said that the slogan Vote ko izzat dou (respect the vote) is hated by na-maloom afraad (unknown men).
