State Institutions Have Nothing To Do With Govt’s Political Victimisation Against Opposition, Says Ahsan Iqbal
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) senior leader Ahsan Iqbal has said the state institutions, especially the Pakistan Army, have nothing to do with the 'political victimisation' of the opposition leaders being done by the federal government.

Speaking to reporters, the PML-N leader said that the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has created a 'perception that the army is also involved in the anti-opposition'.

He condemned the dragging of 'apolitical' state institutions by the government into political affairs as it hurts the 'national security'.

This is not the first time Ahsan Iqbal has accused the PTI of using the Pakistan Army as a shield to protect its incompetence.

In Feb 2020, he said: “PTI shifts blame on military for their failures, when they say government and army are on the same page. He questioned, “Is army directing you [PTI] to not run economic affairs of the country and do poor governance?”

He had further said PTI is weakening the state institutions and the country through this blame game. “PM Imran is trying to protect his government’s incompetence through dragging army into government’s affairs," he had said.

Ahsan Iqbal is facing a case in the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) over embezzlement of funds of the federal government and Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) for a sports city in Narowal.

NAB had announced to initiate a probe into alleged violation of rules in the construction of the National Sports City project a day after its inauguration during the tenure of the PML-N.
