Sindh Govt Installs Water Pumps In DHA Phase 6 As Cantonment Board Remains Missing In Action

As areas of Defence Housing Authority (DHA) in Karachi remain submerged in the aftermath of the heavy downpour, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has directed the Karachi Water and Sanitation Board to clear the area of water through the installation of the additional water pumps.

In a tweet, CM's adviser Murtaza Wahab said that additional pumps have been installed at Street 26 of the DHA to clear Phase 6.

"Additional pumps have also been installed at 26th street by #SindhGovt to clear phase 6, DHA which is currently submerged in water. CM Sindh has directed KWSB to provide complete support to clear the rain-affected areas of DHA," he added.

Residents of the posh housing society remained without water and power for the past three days after the recent monsoon rains. The situation prompted people to hold a protest outside the offices of the administration.

In addition, PTI lawmakers, who also live in the locality, have demanded an audit of the accounts of the DHA and Cantonment Board Clifton (CBC). “Nowhere in the world, there are stormwater drains in the middle of the roads,” a PTI MNA quoted by Samaa said.
