PTI Leader Says Wasim Akhtar Not Part Of MQM Faction That Is Govt’s Ally

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Andleeb Abbas has claimed that Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) leader and Karachi Mayor Waseem Akhtar is not a part of the MQM that is in alliance with the ruling PTI in Centre.

The PTI lawmaker made these comments while speaking on an Express TV show regarding the rainwater situation in Karachi.

She said the Karachi mayor was not a part of the MQM that PTI was in alliance with. "Any MQM partner --as there are many-- whose ideology doesn't align with that of PTI's is not an ally," Abbas reiterated in the show.

She said Akhtar and PTI were poles apart which was why the party also 'filed a case against him'.

It may be noted that after the split with party founder Altaf Hussain, MQM-Pakistan was divided into two factions due to infightings-- one was led by Dr Farooq Sattar and other known as Bahadurabad group was headed by Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui.

Sattar's faction aka PIB group has been sidelined since, whereas the Bahadurabad group --  Karachi mayor also belongs to this group -- had joined hands with the PTI after the latter came to power.
