Police Book Ahmadi Man, Sons For Performing Eid Sacrifice In Toba Tek Singh

A case has been registered against three Ahmadi men in Sialkot after an official of a religious seminary approached the police with a complaint of the former sacrificing an animal on Eid.

In his FIR registered at Pirmahal police station, Mufti Abid Fareed, the administrator of the Jamia Umer Farooq seminary, stated that on Eidul Azha, a local jeweller and his two sons had sacrificed a cow and distributed its meat among Sunnis.

According to the complainant, the three men hurt the 'belief of Muslims' by engaging in Islamic rituals.

No arrests have been made yet.

It may be noted here that Section 298C says any Ahmedi person who 'directly or indirectly, poses himself as a Muslim, or calls, or refers to, his faith as Islam, or preaches or propagates his faith, or invites others to accept his faith, by words, either spoken or written, or by visible representations, or in any manner whatsoever outrages the religious feelings of Muslims shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to three years and shall also be liable to fine'.

Ahead of Eid, the Lahore High Court Bar Association had requested the Punjab government to direct the police and law enforcement authorities to take action against Ahmadis who perform animal sacrifices on Eid, saying that the ritual was in violation of Section 298-B and 1973 constitution.
