The government of Pakistan has requested the government of United Kingdom (UK) to extradite PML-N president Shehbaz Sharif’s son-in-law Imran Ali Yousuf (commonly known as Ali Imran) to Pakistan on a 'reciprocal' basis. In the document seeking his extradition, the Pakistan government maintains that Islamabad has always extended support to the British government as British-Pakistanis involved in crimes who later escape to Pakistan are handed over to the UK.
Geo.tv reported that Pakistan government has sought his extradition on the grounds that he should face inquiries pertaining to corruption allegations in Pakistan.
Geo claims to have seen a copy of the document sent by PTI government to the UK Central Authority’s International Criminality Unit at the Home Office. The report also quoted sources in the government as conforming the development.
Further, the report quoted a source as saying that the British government plans to review the request 'in due time'.
