NADRA Fails To Identify Matiullah Jan’s Kidnappers 2 Weeks After Abduction
There has been no headway by the Islamabad Police in a case pertaining to the brief abduction of senior journalist Matiullah Jan by unknown men in police uniforms last month.

According to a 52-page report submitted by the capital police DIG to the Supreme Court, the police have yet to obtain footage of the kidnapping from the Safe City authorities while geo-fencing was under process as well.

The DIG apprised the bench that the police sent the CCTV footage to the National Database and Registration Authority on July 24, but the authority hasn't got back to the department to confirm the identity of the suspects.

According to the report, the case was being investigated by the special investigation team (SIT) at this point, but soon a joint investigation team (JIT) would be formed who would take over the case.

It said that efforts were underway to arrest the culprits and that the police were waiting for responses from the various department over the case. It also mentioned that the SIT would brief the DIG daily regarding the developments in the case.

The members of the SIT were in 'close contact' with the victim and the relevant departments, it said, adding no stone would be left unturned to take the case to its logical conclusion.
