Maryam Nawaz Says Police Pelted Stones At Her Car During NAB Appearance

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Vice President Maryam Nawaz has alleged that Punjab Police pelted her vehicle with stones during her appearance before the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), damaging the windshield of her bulletproof car.

In a video she posted on Twitter showing the cracked windshield, the PML-N leader said, "Pelting stones at my car, police have broken its windshield. This is a bulletproof car and police are pelting stones and shelling [PML-N workers] in front of NAB's office to instigate workers," she said.

PML-N workers, who had gathered outside the NAB office ahead of the hearing, allegedly clashed with police at Thokar Niaz Baig. Resultantly, police resorted to baton-charge and tear gas. Due to the deteriorating law and order situation, NAB issued a statement that proceedings had been delayed after which the PML-N leader returned home.

Initially, Maryam refused to return. She told her party workers that she was summoned from her home so that she could be harmed. "I am standing here, if I have been called, then listen to me as well," she said.

The PML-N leader said that she had arrived outside the Bureau's office to "answer lies" and will not head back home. However, after the statement, she decided to head home.
