Firing Outside Parliament House, Gunman Chants ‘Khatm-e-Nabuwwat’ Slogan
Islamabad Police have arrested a man for firing gunshots outside the Parliament House while raising slogans of ‘Khatm-e-Nabuwwat Zindabad’.
In a video, police personnel can be seen taking the suspect away from the scene. The suspect, who remains unidentified for now, was raising slogans despite being in custody.
The incident came a week after a man was killed inside a courtroom over the charges of blasphemy.
In a statement, the DIG Operations confirmed the firing on Constitution Avenue– a road that houses Supreme Court, Parliament House, and other important buildings. According to the DIG, police have recovered the weapon and legal action is underway.
On Saturday, a man was gunned down in a courtroom in Peshawar over blasphemy charges that he had been facing for two years.
The suspect, a reported graduate of a seminary, had been arrested by the police but it remained unclear as to how he had taken the gun inside the courtroom. Speaking about the murder, he said that Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) came ‘to his dream and asked him to shoot this man’.
