‘Being Punished For Giving Pakistan 18th Amendment,' Says Zardari After Indictment
Former president Asif Ali Zardari has termed corruption cases against him as a punishment for giving Pakistan the 18th Amendment.

According to the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) co-chairman, the graft cases were made to pressurise him and this 'drama' was being played to 'politically defame him'. Zardari urged the judiciary to decide his cases without any prejudice or influence.

The statement of the former president came on the heels of his indictment by an accountability court in Park Lane case. The former president pleaded non-guilty. Zardari appeared before the court through a video link from Bilawal House, Karachi.

During the hearing, Zardari maintained that his lawyers are at the Supreme Court and he cannot be indicted in the absence of his lawyers.
