PM’s Old Stance Against Dual Nationals, Misdeclaration Of Assets Comes Back To Haunt Him

Following the release of citizenship details of the prime minister’s special assistants, the opposition leaders and social media users are taking the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government to task by reminding Prime Minister Imran Khan’s longstanding stance against the dual nationals holding public offices. The asset details of some of the SAPMs have also generated a debate on social media.
Reacting to the revelations, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Senator Sherry Rehman questioned how the advisers and aides of the prime minister, who are members of the federal cabinet can be dual nationals while the members of parliament can’t have dual nationalities.
Four now narrowed down in media. If members of parliament can’t be dual nationals how can advisors and aides who sit in cabinet? https://t.co/TCMBQqVaDH

In a tweet, she said: “Imran Khan has repeatedly said he stands against government aides, advisers, ministers who swear an oath of allegiance to another country. What happened to #MadeinPakistan?”

Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb tweeting a video of the premier expressing her views on the matter. She said, “His hypocrisy is shameless as his duplicity is destroying a nation. All Imran Khan is missing is a flute.”
In a separate statement, Marriyum demanded the premier and his aides to resign. “You [Imran] had said that it is not possible for ministers to have dual citizenship. You had said that if you have a passport from another country, you cannot sit in parliament. So why has the premier allowed those with dual nationalities to make decisions deciding the fate of the 22 million people in the country?”
Journalists and social media users are too criticising the premier for appointing the dual nationals as members of the federal cabinet, since he had disapproved the same practice in the past.
Yes, no one must pass judgement on anyone just because he/she has dual nationality but it was none other than @ImranKhanPTI who when in opposition questioned the credentials of those having dual citizenship! So, it is far more imp to quit hypocrisy than "quit passing judgement." https://t.co/oPBnjFV5oW

I think dual nationality wasn't that big a deal until @ImranKhanPTI started declaring dual nationals as unfit for Govt. So all the PTI marka hyphenated Pakistanis, who are getting teary eyed over this reaction, need to thank their own handsome for his part in their demonization.
