Veteran politician Javed Hashmi has been booked by Multan police for criticising the state institutions.
According to reports, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader was booked by the Cantonment police and a special team has been formed to arrest the former lawmaker. Police, however, have refused to talk about the case.
Reacting to the registration of the case against him, Javed Hashmi said he had done 'nothing wrong' by criticising the state institutions.
Alluding to multiple martial laws in the past, he said he would not stop speaking against the institutions that have abrogated the constitutions several times since the creation of the country. He said he was ready to go jails for saying what is true.
After he parted ways with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Hashmi emerged as a top critic of the ruling party. Last year, he said that the government was blackmailing the NAB chairman through scandals for taking desired actions and arresting political rivals.
He had said former president Pervez Musharraf created the NAB to break political parties and now it was introducing new forms of political victimisation.
