PIA Reduces Fares For Domestic Flights In Historic Discount
Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has announced a ‘historic reduction’ in the fares of domestic flights, following the ‘fake licences’ controversy that severely affected the international flight operations of the national flag carrier.

According to a PIA spokesperson, the airlines’ management has made a ‘historic reduction’ in domestic fares. "The one-way fare from Karachi to Islamabad and from Karachi to Lahore has been fixed at Rs9,572, while passengers will also be allowed to carry 7 kilogramme (kg) of hand luggage," PIA announced on Twitter.

The spokesman further said that the discounted fares would come into effect immediately. This is the second announcement regarding a reduction in fares as last week the national flag-carrier had slashed fares for domestic flights and had fixed a price of Rs12,000 for one-way ticket, inclusive of all taxes, for different destinations including Islamabad and other cities.

On Friday, PIA had dismissed 52 employees on a number of charges, including fake or tampered degrees, violation of rules and disclosure of confidential information to the media. Last week, European Union Air Safety Agency (EASA) had suspended the PIA planes to fly to and from Europe for the next six months.
