Minister Shibli Faraz Says CM Buzdar Is Here To Stay

Amid speculations that Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar is going to lose his portfolio, Federal Minister For Information and Broadcasting Shibli Faraz said that the Punjab CM was not going anywhere.

"All speculations regarding his departure are mala fide and baseless," the information minister said in a tweet.

Recently, Sohail Warraich claimed that Prime Minister Imran Khan had finally agreed to replace Usman Buzdar. Aleem Khan is the most favorite candidate for the seat so far but Aslam Iqbal and two others are also in the race, the veteran journalist had said.

Despite his below-the-par performance, PM Imran Khan has refused to remove Buzdar from his post, angering his allies and party members alike.

In a meeting held in January, Imran had categorically told party leaders that Buzdar was going to stay in his post and a conspiracy to remove him would not succeed. The prime minister had added that he knew who was creating the controversy to oust Buzdar and that the conspirator wanted the post for himself.

Science and Technology Minister Fawad Chaudhry is a prominent critic of Buzdar within his party. He had criticised the Punjab government over its 'failure to deliver' and questioned its failure to release the funds to districts.
