KP CM's Adviser Ajmal Wazir Dismissed Over 'Leaked Audio'

Ajmal Wazir, the information adviser to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister, has been removed from his position, with reports suggesting the action was taken over a 'leaked audio clip'.

According to a notification from the provincial government on Saturday, the adviser has been replaced by Kamran Bangash, currently serving as the special assistant to chief minister. The notification added that Bangash will be serving on both the positions, Dawn reported.

The action to remove the adviser was taken under Section 3 of KP Advisers and Special Assistants to the Chief Minister (Appointment) Act, 1989.

The news report further stated that Bangash has confirmed Wazir's dismissal over the audio clip, which has revealed about the former adviser taking commission from an advertising agency. It added that Prime Minister Imran Khan has been informed about the matter and that a forensic investigation of the clip is likely to take place sometime soon.

The appointment of the now dismissed adviser came in March this year as he had replaced Shaukat Yousufzai. He had earlier served as the adviser to the chief minister on merged districts.
