APS Victim’s Father Who Survived Terror Attack Says Was Targeted For ‘Demanding Justice’

President of APS Martyrs Forum Fazal Khan Advocate, who had narrowly escaped an assassination attempt on Tuesday, has said that he was targeted for “raising voice for justice and the victims of enforced disappearances”.

The human rights lawyer, during an interview to digital news outlet DW Urdu, said that the state will be responsible if anything happens to him. “If I am get killed, the state will be my murderer. I am a responsible citizen and a regular tax payer. It’s the responsibility of the state to ensure my right to life and penalise those who tried to kill me,” he said.

While talking about the deadliest Army Public School (APS) attack that was carried out by Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in 2014, he said that since day one he was demanding a judicial commission to ensure justice to the victims and their families and to brought the actual perpetrators to book.

It is pertinent to mention that Fazal Khan’s own 14-year-old son Umar Khan was also martyred in the APS attack in 2014.

On Tuesday, he had narrowly escaped an assassination attempt in Peshawar. Unknown motorcyclists shot at the lawyer’s vehicle in the provincial capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, but he remained unharmed.
