2,500 Personnel Of Sindh Police Infected With Coronavirus
At least 25,00 officials of the Sindh Police officials contracted Covid-19 and 16 have died since the pandemic hit the province in early March.

According to a spokesperson of the Sindh Police, out of these 2,500 cases, 155 emerged over the past 48 hours.

Giving the details of the deceased police officials, he said that out of the 16 police officers, 14 hailed from Karachi while two resided in Hyderabad. The spokesperson revealed that 906 police officers have also recovered from the virus.

As per the spokesperson, 1,593 cops are currently being treated for the virus.

On Thursday, Pakistan recorded the lowest number of Covid-19 deaths since May 28, as only 51 deaths were reported in the past 24 hours.

On May 28, the country reported 57 deaths, a number that kept on increasing ever since. However, it seems the pandemic in the country has started to lose strength, as death and positive cases, both are on a downward trajectory.

The decrease in the cases has led the government Prime Minister Imran Khan to declare this outcome a result of the smart lockdowns– a strategy his government kept on touting.

Although the government may have let its guard down, the experts warned that it was too early to declare victory against the virus that has already infected more than 250,000 people across the country with near 5,500 deaths.
