Amid the national coronavirus crisis, Zarai Taraqiati Bank has decided to acquire the services of transgenders to ‘shame’ the farmers who have not returned the loans yet. Previously, the government had directed the banks to give relief to the farmers with respect to loan installments due to the lockdown imposed to counter the spread of the fatal virus.
Private channel Samaa News reported that Zarai Taraqiati Bank has issued a written order, saying that the bank will hire transgenders, who will go to the loan defaulter famer’s houses to ‘shame them’.

“The names of loan defaulter farmers will be publicised in local newspapers and cable channels. Pamphlets will be distributed and announcements will be made through loudspeakers of mosques against the defaulters in their respective villages and towns,” read the bank’s order.
Previously, ruling party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government and provincial governments have directed the banks to facilitate the farmers and other citizens who have taken loans for their businesses and livelihood. It was directed to give them maximum relief in loan installments due to the coronavirus crisis across the country.
