Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MNA Riaz Fatyana has said that there is a notion that the coronavirus could be defeated by eating the locusts and a research should be carried out to prove the same.
“There’s a common notion about the locusts that eating it could provide the best defence against the coronavirus,” Fatyana said while addressing a parliamentary session Wednesday.

“If a research is carried out in this regard, and, it is proven that eating locusts creates a strong defence against the virus, then the nation would eliminate the pandemic on its own and the government will not have to make much effort,” he explained.
Only recently, Fatyana, who is also the chairman standing committee on law and justice, had advised the nation to avoid eating the edibles, prices of which have shot up.
Earlier, Minister for Climate Change Zartaj Gul claimed on a TV show aired by the state-run PTV that the COVID-19 refers to the ’19 points’ of the virus. She further said that every country can implement their own strategy to deal with the virus, based on the 19 points. Later, she admitted her mistake in a social media post, saying she was misquoted.
