Pilot, Air Traffic Controller Held Responsible For PIA Plane Crash

A preliminary report submitted to the government on Monday has held the pilot and the air traffic controller responsible for the PIA plane crash last month that claimed 97 lives.

Minister for Aviation Ghulam Sarwar submitted the report to Prime Minister Imran Khan and discussed the incident.

According to the report, the captain did not follow the landing protocol and ‘forgot’ to control the speed and elevation of the plane while landing. It said the pilot took off the plane despite the fact that it touched the runway thrice and received damage.

News reports suggest that the minister will now share the contents of the report at the parliamentary session due today.

The plane carrying 99 people had crashed in a residential locality in Karachi's Model Colony area on May 22, 2020.
