New Zealand has reported third new coronavirus case after declaring victory against the deadly virus. The recent patient is reportedly a Pakistani man who flew from Lahore’s airport to Australia, and then to New Zealand.

Kristin Hall, a journalist in New Zealand, posted a tweet saying: “One new case of covid in NZ. He's a man in his 60s staying at Jet Park hotel which is a quarantine facility. His flight came from Lahore, Pakistan. He stayed at an isolation hotel before being moved to quarantine.”

The journalist later clarified that the infected man didn’t reach New Zealand directly from Pakistan, but via Australia.

On June 8, the health officials of New Zealand had declared the country to be coronavirus-free. In her celebratory speech, Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has announced lifting of the nationwide lockdown. The last person with coronavirus in the country was successfully recovered and there had been no more positive cases in the last 48-hours.

Jacinda Ardern said that Kiwis will move to a national alert level one from midnight on Monday. Public and private events will be allowed to take place without restrictions and retail and hospitality industries can resume operations while the public transport resumes functioning.
