JUI-F MNA Passes Away Days After Defeating Coronavirus
Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F)’s Member of National Assembly (MNA) Munir Khan Orakzai passed away from heart failure in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Kurram district on Tuesday, days after successfully recovering from coronavirus.

DAWN reported that Irfanullah Khan Orakzai, the deceased lawmaker's nephew, said that his uncle had tested positive for the coronavirus in April but made a full recovery and last tested negative on May 8. “When the family tried to wake my uncle up for morning prayers today, he did not respond, upon which he was immediately taken to the hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival,” the deceased’s nephew told the newspaper.

According to Munir’s family, his funeral prayers will be held at his ancestral village, Manduri, in the afternoon. He is survived by his wife, five daughters and a son.

Radio Pakistan reported that President Arif Alvi expressed ‘deep grief’ and ‘sorrow’ on the MNA's death, saying his services would be remembered.

Moreover, Prime Minister Imran Khan also expressed sadness over Munir's death. Special Assistant to Prime Minister (SAPM) on Political Communication Dr Shehbaz Gill tweeted that the premier has conveyed his condolences to the deceased MNA's family.

Munir Khan, 61, hailed from Kurram district in KP and was elected to NA-45 in the 2018 elections on the ticket of JUI-F.
