We were joined by Dr Sajid, infectious diseases expert based in US, Dr Anis Kazi who works at WHO, Ammar Rashid, activist and researcher, and Dr Alia Haider, who works in Lahore for a webinar on COVID-19: Protecting Lives. The participants were highly critical of the government's response to the crisis and the way the prime minister continously downplayed the situation in the beginning to open the lockdowns and is now shifting the blame on to the people of Pakistan. Dr Alia Haider talked about the situation of health workers and medical professionals in Balochistan. Dr Anis Kazi shared some valuable insights on government's performance so far. Dr Ammar Rashid argued how the government could have supported the daily-wagers without easing the lockdowns. Dr Sajid Chaudhry, apart from sharing important measures that can be taken to prevent the virus from spreading, demanded accountability of the people who were responsible for mishandling and mismanaging the pandemic in Pakistan.
