Uzma Khan’s Lawyers Allege Coverup As Police Register ‘Weak’ FIR

Uzma Khan’s Lawyers Allege Coverup As Police Register ‘Weak’ FIR
Punjab police has registered a ‘weak’ First Information Report (FIR) against the daughters of real estate tycoon Malik Riaz for forcibly barging into the house of model and actor Uzma Khan to violently attack her. The actor’s lawyer Hassan Niazi was allegedly detained by police officials for ‘insisting’ on registration of the FIR on Wednesday.

Uzma Khan took to Twitter to inform about the development in her case. She said, “This FIR that has been registered is completely bogus. Unacceptable. [It] clearly shows there was immense pressure of Malik Riaz on Punjab Police. This lollipop was given due to public pressure.” She said that her fight for justice would be continued and she wouldn’t ‘compromise’ at all.

While talking about the FIR, Hassan Niazi – one of the lawyers of Uzma Khan’s legal counsel – said that a very ‘weak’ FIR was registered which didn’t explain the gravity of the incident. “The real story clipped, important sections omitted. The system yet again failed to deliver, it was and is a case of the hapless people of Pakistan versus the untouchables,” he added.

Khadija Siddiqi, another lawyer of actor’s legal counsel, took to Twitter to condemn the ‘illegal detention’ of Hassan Niazi by police officials of Lahore’s Defense Phase 6. She said: “His [Hassan’s] phones have been snatched by the police for insisting on Registration of FIR. Malik Riaz showing power.”

On Tuesday, a viral video went viral on social media that showed two women entering the actor’s house and threatening her for allegedly having an extramarital affair with a man named Usman who is said to be the husband of Malik Riaz’s daughter. The video also shows them sprinkling kerosene oil on Uzma Khan while threatening to kill her.

Following the incident, the actor submitted a preliminary application to the police station to register an FIR on the incident. Uzma Khan said in a statement that the women who attacked his house in the middle of the night along with 12 armed men were the daughters of Malik Riaz.
