Students To Be Promoted Without Exams This Year: Saeed Ghani
KARACHI: Sindh government has decided to promote the students without exams this year and announced that intermediate and matriculation exams will not be held.

Addressing a press conference in Karachi on Thursday, Sindh Education Minister Saeed Ghani told that the government has decided to promote all students up to grade 8 without exams in the wake of Coronavirus outbreak. He added that the decision was taken in a meeting of the Sindh Education Steering Committee.

A legislative change or amendment will be needed to promote the students without exams and the government was going to take the necessary measures in this regard. He confirmed that the decision to promote the students was final.

Saeed Ghani told the media that the entire system of conducting the examinations had been disturbed. He told that an additional 3% marks will be given to all the students for the promotion into the next grade and the students who have previously failed will be given passing marks to progress to the next class.

He added that the Sindh government was in talks with the Higher Education Commission to work out the procedure for the promotion of the intermediate students to the universities as well.

Intermediate students will be given admissions into the universities based on their first-year results with an additional 3% marks awarded under the new arrangement, the provincial minister said.

It is pertinent to mention here that the government had initially decided to postpone the board exams until the end of this year. However, the provincial government has now decided to not hold the exams at all and promote the students into the next classes without any exams.
