PIA Plane Crash: Pilot’s Father Says Son Being Falsely Blamed By Inquiry Committee
Father of Sajjad Gul, the pilot of the ill-fated Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight that was crashed in Karachi on Friday, has alleged that the national carrier’s inquiry committee falsely blamed his son for the unfortunate incident that took the lives of 97 passengers.

The late pilot’s father, while addressing a press conference along with Governor Punjab Chaudhry Sarwar, severely criticised the members of PIA’s inquiry committee that was constituted to determine the causes of PK-8303 tragedy. He said that the committee’s members are neither professional nor 'good human beings'.

“A day before the plane crash, my son was called national hero by PIA. He was a thorough professional who had completed 17,000 flight hours in his long career,” Sajjad Gul’s father said adding that in last year, the pilot had completed 1,000 flight hours.

On Friday, PIA CEO Air Vice Marshal Arshad Malik, while expressing sorrow over the loss of lives in the plane crash in Karachi, said that the pilot had two options of runways but he decided to ‘go around’, which left several people dead and many others wounded.

In a video message, he said: “The last words we heard from our pilot were that there is a technical problem and he was told on final approach that he has both runways available to him to land on. But the pilot decided that he wanted to go around.”
