In less than a month, the ratio of confirmed coronavirus cases in Pakistan has increased from 8 percent to 12 percent. The data analysis predict that the percentage would rise as the number of tests for coronavirus per day in the country has also been growing on daily basis.
Despite the alarming facts and data, Prime Minister Imran Khan on Thursday announced that the lockdown imposed in the country to contain the spread of coronavirus will be lifted 'in phases' starting Saturday.
Journalist Shahzaib Khanzada on his show, presented a graph based on the data provided by health authorities in Pakistan. The graph showed that from April 10 - 19, the ratio of confirmed coronavirus cases in Pakistan was 8 percent; from April 20 - 29, the ratio was 10 percent; and from April 30 - May 06, the ratio was 12 percent.

Moreover only on May 06, the ratio was highest at 13 percent, when more 1,500 positive cases were reported in a single day. Considering the data, it can be predicted that with more tests in the future, Pakistan will see a prominent surge in the coronavirus cases.
“Lockdown will be lifted from Saturday in phases. We are taking this step because our people are suffering.” He announced the decision while acknowledging the fact that the coronavirus cases and number of deaths are rising in the country. “Our concern was that the number of cases shouldn’t increase so rapidly that the healthcare system is burdened, but it has fortunately not happened”, he added.
The deadly coronavirus has claimed 593 lives in Pakistan, while 7,530 patients have recovered successfully and have been discharged from the hospitals.
The national tally of coronavirus confirmed cases has risen to 24,999, with the provincial governments of Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan confirming 9,195, 9,093, 3,956, 1,725 cases respectively. Meanwhile, 394 cases in Gilgit-Baltistan, 558 in Islamabad, and 78 in Kashmir have been reported to date.
