Minister Murad Saeed Claims New York ‘Following Pakistan’ On Coronavirus Lockdown
Federal Minister for Communications Murad Saeed on Monday claimed, without presenting any evidence, that New York – the epicenter of coronavirus in US – was following the concept of 'smart lockdown' introduced by Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Murad Saeed, while addressing the floor of House, said: "The governor of New York said his state will follow the concept of 'smart lockdown' for contact tracing introduced by Pakistan," he claimed. He even went on to say that the British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has also announced to follow the ‘smart lockdown’. However, the British PM who recently recovered from coronavirus, has not said anything like that.

“The world follows [us] but they [opposition] don't like it," he added, while referring to the opposition’s criticism on federal government for ‘mishandling’ the national coronavirus crisis.  Murad Saeed praised the primer and government’s response on coronavirus by arguing that some models had initially predicted that the country would have 50,000 cases of Covid-19 by April 25 but due to the government's efforts, that number hasn't been reached. He called this feat a ‘mark of success’.

The federal minister concluded his speech by bashing PPP for walking out and not having the ‘courage’ to listen to the government representatives’ arguments.

Earlier, Minister of State for Climate Change Zartaj Gul had falsely claimed, “PM Imran is the only premier who addressed the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in his beautiful mother tongue, Urdu”. She was later severely criticised for her remarks that suggest she didn’t even watch the prime minister’s address that he gave in English.
