President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Sardar Masood Khan has commended the efforts of frontline health workers fighting the coronavirus pandemic in an efficient manner and preventing the spread successfully.
“AJK has the highest rate of recovery of Covid-19 patients because our government, people and the medical community are on one page to combat the pandemic,” the president was quoted by Express Tribune as saying.
The AJK government held a ceremony to distribute personal protective equipment (PPEs) and medicines among doctors, nurses and paramedical staff in Muzaffarabad.
He said that the doctors and other medical staff were solely responsible for keeping the spirit high in curing the nation of the virus. He said that he was thankful for their services by putting their own lives at risk.
The president also acknowledged the efforts of the common public for respecting the lockdown regulations.
The number of people who have contracted the virus are 108, while 76 have recovered, 28 are still under treatment, he updated the audience.
None of them is on ventilators and only one patient has died due to coronavirus so far.
He also ensured that the testing facility has been made available beyond Muzaffarabad, in Rawalakot and Mirpur while a proposal is also under consideration to impart training to 1,500 members of medical staff to respond to Covid-19 pandemic in future. The virology department has also been upgraded on the research facility.
