In an interview with Raza Rumi and Murtaza Solangi for Naya Daur, #PMLN Senator Dr Musadik Malik explains how govt could've continued with the lockdown if it had given the relief packages to the underprivileged instead of 'elites'. He says that Pakistan needed a strict 6 to 8-week lockdown to flatten the curve and to make it effective we needed to divert the money received from IMF and the relief packages offered to the construction and manufacturing industries towards the poor. He argues that the 'smart lockdown' is a suicidal policy. No governemnt should ever make it a hunger-vs.-death argument because its subjects would expect it to safeguard them from both.
