ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry has Thursday said that former Advisor to Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Firdous Ashiq Awan did not deserve to be the advisor and only got the position through lobbying.
In an interview, Chaudhry said that Awan should have been removed a long time ago since she wasn’t up to the task. He added that Lt Gen (r) Asim Bajwa’s involvement in the information ministry will be quite helpful for the information minister Shibli Faraz.
He added that Firdous Ashiq Awan’s failures in the ministry negatively affected Prime Minister Imran Khan’s position as well.
It is important to mention that Fawad Chaudhry was PTI government’s first information minister but he was removed from the position in the April 2019 cabinet reshuffle. Fawad was given the ministry of science and technology but a verbal war between him and Awan continued throughout the last year.
Awan was sacked from the position on April 27, 2020. She was accused of embezzlement of state funds and misuse of authority after her removal.
