Bilawal Calls On PM Imran Khan To Step Down Voluntarily For Coronavirus 'Failure'

Pakistan People's Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has called on Prime Minister Imran Khan to voluntarily step down and pick someone else to replace him in office. This represents a further heating up in the war of words between the federal government and the Sindh government, led by the PTI and the PPP respectively.

In his comments to Sindhi media outlets, the PPP Chairman said that in his view the Prime Minister had failed to ensure national unity and consensus in the fight against the Coronavirus pandemic. “The federal government is responsible for ensuring a consensus is reached,” he emphasized.

Contrasting the efforts of the Sindh government with what he saw as the failure of the federal government to tackle Covid-19, the PPP Chairman said:

“We are providing relief to the people despite a shortage of resources.”

Bilawal also announced that the Sindh government was about to enter “phase two” of its plan to counter the pandemic.
