Won't Allow Anyone To Shut Mosques Down, Says JUI-F
Jamiat Ulema-e-Islami (JUI-F) Sindh has accused the law enforcement agencies of victimizing the pesh imams (prayer leaders), who had violated the social distancing measures imposed by the government.

He further condemned the closure of mosques, following the countrywide lock-down over the current situation amid the corona virus crisis.

A meeting was held between JUI-F Secretary General and Sindh police IG, Mushtaq Mahar, at the office, where the party expressed its reservations over the arrest of the clerics, last Friday.

Soomro said that the prayer leaders were already following restrictions and the prayers had been limited but no one can be allowed to bar the worshipers from coming to the mosque.

He added that the state should restrict the worshipers from prayers instead of asking the clerics to intervene in the matter. Soomro also claimed that the action was taken despite their cooperation with the Provincial government in enforcement of the restriction

"We won't tolerate registration of cases against prayer leaders and the acts of sealing mosques."

The JUI-F later released a statement quoted IG Mahar as saying that the party was fully cooperating with the Sindh police, adding that all cases against the clerics have been suspended.
