Watch: Newly-Appointed Minister Shibli Faraz Fumbles While Taking Oath

The newly-appointed Minister for Information and Broadcasting Shibli Faraz fumbled and mispronounced some Urdu words while taking oath by President Arif Alvi on Tuesday.

The oath taking ceremony of Senator Shibli Faraz was held at Aiwan-e-Sadr in Islamabad. It can be heard in the video that the son of a legendary Urdu language poet Ahmad Faraz, incorrectly pronounced some words and fumbled despite reading directly from the written paper.

Shibli Faraz’s father Syed Ahmed Shah, better known by his pen name Ahmed Faraz was a great Urdu poet, scriptwriter, and former chairman of Pakistan Academy of Letters. It is pertinent to mention that during his career, he severely criticised military dictators and their illegitimate regimes for which he was arrested too. He was awarded Sitar-e-Imtiaz and Halal-e-Imtiaz for his services in Urdu literature. The legendary poet died at the age of 77 on August 25, 2008.

On Monday, Prime Minister Imran Khan appointed Senator Shibli Faraz as Minister for Information and Broadcasting and replaced Firdous Ashiq Awan with Lt Gen (R) Asim Bajwa as Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Information with ‘immediate effect’.
