Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has announced strict lockdown for Jummah hours today. The CM Sindh said that only the administration of mosque (3-5 persons) would be allowed to offer Taraweeh prayers in the mosque during Ramzan.
CM Murad Ali Shah in a late-night video message directed the authorities to ensure strict lockdown during the Jummah hours today. He announced a ban on congregational Taraweeh prayers, citing doctor’s concerns and the risk of spreading the deadly coronavirus through public prayers.
“We have taken the decision after consulting with doctors, medical experts. I request Ulema to cooperate with the government. Mosques will remain open and Taraweeh prayers will be offered as usual but only the staff will be allowed to participate,” the provincial chief executive said.
Murad Ali Shah said that on Friday, as had been the practice over the past four weeks, a strict lockdown would be enforced between 12pm and 3pm, during which the movement by people would be banned and congregations of more than five people in mosques would be prohibited.
CM Shah said that the next two weeks would be crucial and a stricter lockdown would be imposed in the province during the period. “Even if we are making wrong decisions, Allah will forgive us as our intentions are good,” he said, adding that the government is forced to make tough decisions.
