Lahore:
Police reportedly beat up and arrested a volunteer who was distributing ration among working class families in Chungi area of Lahore on Wednesday. The working class families were protesting against the government, accusing it of abandoning them amid the lockdown.
A Huqooq-e-Khalq Movement volunteer who was distributing ration among the families was beaten up by and arrested by police for filming the protest. A number of women staging the protest claimed that contrary to its claims, the government is doing nothing to address the plight of the workers who are facing severe financial crises after the lockdown.
The police reportedly also snatched the volunteers' camera in a bid to stop them from recording the protesters' video messages.
