Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Firdous Ashiq Awan said that the government will be sending doses of chloroquine to 'friendly nations' to help them recover from the Covid-19 crisis.
On Tuesday, during a media briefing, in Islamabad, Awan said that a million chloroquine tablets will be sent to Saudi Arabia and United States each, 500,000 to Turkey and Italy each, 5m to the United Kingdom, 700,000 to Kazakhstan and 300,000 to Qatar.
She also announced that Prime Minister Imran Khan has updated the cabinet about some countries showing interest in the import of chloroquine tablets that have proved useful in the treatment of coronavirus in most cases across the world.
Awan also said, “Pakistan has to prove its credibility and goodwill by helping these friendly nations in the time of need.”
“Pakistan has some 40 million tablets in stock and possessed the raw material to make even more,” said Firdous Ashiq Awan.
Earlier, Pakistan had sold some 300,000 tablets of chloroquine to Guangzhou Pharmaceutical Holdings Limited (GPHL) at zero yuan.
